Meet Chris
Chris McCreight is a former small business owner who currently works as Chief of Staff to Councilman Justin Brannan and is a Democratic District Leader for Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Coney Island, Brighton Beach and Sea Gate. Prior to working for the City
Council, Chris worked as a Communications and Policy Director in the New York State Assembly.
Chris grew up the son of a public high school teacher and a librarian They taught him the value of hard work but also caring for those less fortunate. Chris had the opportunity to play college basketball and the experience helped shape his competitive nature and desire to strive to be the best at whatever task is at hand. After college, Chris followed his love for music and opened up a successful record store that he ran for fifteen years.
His upbringing and life experiences prepared him to face the challenges southern Brooklyn faces. Whether it’s the terrible subway system, pandemic recovery, the migrant emergency, the unique challenges facing seniors or the threat our immigrant neighbors are under, Chris is prepared to continue fighting for justice and equality for all. Over the last two decades, Chris has worked for the last three Democratic Bay Ridge Councilman, Justin Brannan, Vincent Gentile and Sal Albanese, learning valuable lessons and approaches to problem solving from each one. Along with Justin Brannan and Joanne Seminara, Chris helped found the Bay Ridge Democrats. He's also been involved in local neighborhood activities like the 5th Avenue Bay Ridge Art Walk, various cooking contests and organizing pandemic-related resource distributions. Chris is running because he sees that many of the problems our neighborhoods face can be solved when politicians put their constituents ahead of special interests. Chris is a Democrat because he believes in Democratic values. He will fight to raise wages, protect women's reproductive rights, stand up for students and teachers and protect our neighborhoods from greedy developers. He believes we need a government that works for all New Yorkers, no matter age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, income or zip code.
